Founded in London and Melbourne, and focused on the power of shared experience, Experience Foundation is a new type of strategy and design agency for place-based transformation worldwide.

Our experience-led approach:

  • Articulates the north star for all to rally around, aligning disciplines and stakeholders, eliminating siloes, and bridging divides. This way, compelling and coherent narratives inspire, guide, and underpin projects.     

  • Connects experience to infrastructure, placing the human at the centre of business-critical decisions, and ensuring that our places are for people.

  • Provides the golden thread that stitches together all the elements – vision, strategy, design, build, use, improvement – of great placemaking.

  • Advocates for ‘vision-in-action’ ways of working, bringing places to life through experiences. Predesign, mid-development, and post-construction activations involve all stakeholders, positively inform the final and ongoing outcome, and foster belonging.  

  • Delivers a resilient system of design that allows for places to get better with time, continually improving because the end user is an active part of that system of design and so fully and always invested in the outcome.

For us, human experience is the foundation for all real placemaking. We design environments of which people want to be a part.

Experience Foundation is a movement in the making.

We bring practitioners together from across the many city-shaping disciplines. Sharing tools, methods, and optimism, we work with governments, developers, institutions, communities, and brands to build capacity, workshop ideas, and grow a common language. This is a community of live practice.

About

Experience Foundation is an independently owned strategy and design agency, founded by Adam Scott, Charlotte Boyens and Su Lim.

Our founders and partners are practitioners working together, allowing each to bring their personal commitment and depth of knowledge to every conversation, engagement, observation and task.

We operate across timezones, allowing us to operate a 24- hour asynchronous work cycle that can be helpful when rapid responses are necessary. We have found this to be an effective and efficient way of working, as well as a collaborative method that challenges us, as a team, to think beyond our discipline and our geography.

We are deeply grateful for the generous support of our friends and partners - notably Studio Human, Natasha Bidgood, and Alex MacLean - who help us grow, learn, and create together.
